well thats the big bike tucked up for the winter so it is down to the little stinker to take care of the biking activities the first of which will be this Sunday the Yorkshire ride of remembrance

Yorkshire Ride of Remembrance 2015

No need to register for this ride just turn up and make a £5 donation on the day ,all money raised will be going to RBL.
This will be an L plate friendly route
Destination is Hemingborough War Memorial Garden .
Ride will leave Squires after we have observed a two minute silence then head to Hemingbough via South Milford and Selby(the ride will pass Selby Abbey under a road closure)

mean time it is down to walking the dog and trying not to let the gray damp foggy conditions get me down but with dog walks like this on my door step it's not too hard

Just putting together my shots from the summer. I was going to take a late fall ride today, but fall preparation got in the way. I waited for slightly more sun and less wind, and by the time it WAS nice, I was deep into cleaning lawn mowers and taking in the wharf and stacking wood. Boring... and depressing!
Where abouts izz youzz, Eddy? Those house boats look fascinating! I Google Earthed the whole road of your Ride for Remembrance. Is there ever a huge difference in an hour ride in your neck of the woods than an hour around here! I keep forgetting how close everything is in Europe. An hour from my door, if I choose the right route, I would pass maybe a dozen cars and not one pub!" />

Walks this fall with my pup.

Well, I'm hoping to get out more and ride now, as it is getting into our best weather for riding. Just need to free up those weekends.

My Father has been very ill for a while and passed away a couple of weeks ago. He's in rural Mississippi, and we had to run around a bit for that.

He was a colorful character, and we came back with a cache of interesting "stuff". Just what I need after attempting to clean up my own "stuff" when I moved back into the house!

Sorry to hear of your loss , it can be a moving time sorting out stuff seeing what others have been hanging on to  prompting old memories of times gone by , trying to recognise people in photos that you haven't seen in years and have no idea where they are now,
had a good ride on the memorial run I love doing things like that , we had a good turn out

and all for a good cause , to remember the fallen and honor the survivors

Sorry to hear about your Dad, Smilo... We're all at that age where the ticking clock has the upper hand now. Never thought I'd be reading the obits and comparing ages with more and more alarm! I was just looking around the garage yesterday as a matter of fact, and wondering who would do what with all the 'stuff'.
Not to dwell... Never planned for anything in my life, why start now?
Looks like a great turn-out Eddy! Does it ever NOT rain there? Our Remembrance Day is November 11. Strangely, everybody looks forward to it now because it has been declared 'obligatory paid holiday'. Not sure that's right. I think it should be more like voting day where they give you 3 hours to vote, but not the whole day off.
I did some research last year into my Uncle's death in April '45. He was killed after just crossing the Rhine in to Germany near Emmerich. My family never knew that at the time, he was probably the furthest into Germany of any troops in the sector.
Strange that nobody ever talked about his loss to the nephews or cousins. So many losses I guess, too hard to dredge it all up.
Anyhoo... Hope you get some good weather riding in Smilo. I put the Ninja away yesterday, although the KLR still has a full tank.
I'm rethinking my 'Adventure Ride' competition again. I'm going out to mark some cross country trails that are easy enough to find, but challenging enough to cause some grief. I may get my Road Rally thing going yet! The next Cape Breton Bike Rally is in August, so I might get it together for 2016. We'll see how enthusiastic I can get over the winter!

It does seam as if rain has the upper hand this year JP and I can confirm that the wet suet I was wearing is a wet suet I got well and truly wet as soon as it started raining , just as if I had gone out in shorts , will happen no more it has gone in the bin , I am a bad looser no second chances with this kiddy when it comes to water in my under carriage,

Thanks for the well-wishes guys. Like you're Memorial day ride-out. I'm sure there are rides like that in the US, but not around my area that I'm aware of. Big country and all... Would enjoy something like that myself, despite not having any military history. Appreciate those who do.

Our Memorial Day is a government holiday, and I don't get that one off. But, there is a nice display in our building lobby of those who work here (and their ancestors) highlighting their military service. Some of the stories are amazing.

I have no military connection but do enjoy the taking part in things like that that show bikers in a good light , next one for me the Santa toy run from the same place to Masham most dressed as father xmas

Fun watching that video Eddy! Good variety of bikes there. It would be similar to our 'Ride 4 the Cure' event that is run around the Cabot Trail once a year. We get more bikes than that, but not the variety. A very big preponderance of 'cruisers' (mostly Harleys), the odd dirt bike, a few 'all road' bikes, and the rest are fairly standard sport bikes. One or two 'exotics' like a Ducati or a Guzzi. We once had a couple of Aprilias which were like bikes from the future at the time!
Mind you, I hate those rides most of the time. Too many bikes too close. It is particularly annoying if you get stuck behind an accountant riding his brand new Harley for the only ride of the season just after he's taken a chisel to the muffler to make it sound 'safer'! Don't get me going!

The little stinker was on good behaviour played with the big boys nearly 5 times her size on the way home and was not disgraced , just keep her singing that sweet sweet song from 6 to 8 k revs and she is there you just have to dance on that shifter and read the road that bit more , love it , trouble is after riding that for 5 or 6 months when you get back on the big baby she feels like a tank for ages till you get in to it again , happy days

Am on the way home after spending 5 days up in Jock Scotch Scotland visiting our son and family , it has been rain and gales all the way just about ,but was nice to see them , but I don't like the driving conditions heavy rain showers with strong winds not good and have to drive over the Pennines yet and that will be open and exposed not good at all , oh well onward and upward

For some reason I'm picturing Eddy as the captain of a sailing ship. Be sure and tack into the wind!

Have to say the old Bugilow felt like a ship in a storm at times but we did make it safe and sound , 40 mins sat at some road works to do about 2 miles in the dark with lashing rain and gale forse wind did not help at all

Nothing much going on. Day off work and mother nature encouraged staying home by offering up a bit of a storm. Just enough snow to be a minor annoyance.



Good surf on the ocean though.



Me and the sea-dawg went to see if any lobsters washed up. He only found a clam, so I let him have it.



As I was putting the snowblower back in the garage, I noticed that the KLR is still filthy. Guess I was hoping for the LAST ride that is not going to come until it is the FIRST ride of 2016. Going to be a bit of a bother scraping the mud off now that it is below freezing...

Hey Smilo! Did you see the Space-X go? Or better yet, COME BACK? Now THAT is real rocket-science!

The weather has been mediocre here, and I've been super-busy at work, so not much in the way of riding. I did manage to take the Suzuki out of mothballs over the holidays and got it checked out and ready to roll (really should get new tires before trying any serious cornering though).

In regards to SpaceX, I had forgotten about the landing attempt part of this flight, so didn't bother paying special attention (unmanned rocket launches are relatively common around these parts).

The technology has been around for a while, but it mostly comes down to a matter of economics. Will the savings on refurb/replace overcome the extra fuel and weight that limits your payload weight.

It does seem to show promise, and full marks to the SpaceX folks for doing the hard work of making it work.

However, in the press coverage, I'm getting tired of everything Elon Musk does being interpreted as amazing and original to be honest.

Well as most people know we have had more than our share of rain over the last few weeks and it is getting boring now , but we have had a few days now without any but now we have snow all around us , but up to press we haven't had any in Ripon , hope it stays that way , as for the bikes the Stinker has only been out once since the Santa run and that was only round town , have had the Old Girl fired up a couple of times but my battery optimizer went caput at the end of last winter and I hadn't got round to replacing it but when I tried to fire the Old Girl last week the battery had all on so I ordered a new optimizer and have put it on so hopefully that will bring the battery back from the dead , wonder if it will work on the rider ??

Hey Eddie! I spent an enjoyable 1/2 hour roaming the streets of Ripon courtesy of Google Street View. Lovely trees in the spring, and a bigger John Deere dealer than we have here. Forgot that you live in farm country.

Yes it is Farming country all around us , the J D dealership was where I used to park my Truck when i was still at work my boss was the major share holder in the Ripon Farm services tractor and Land Rover dealerships just a 5 min walk from where I live very handy , I will Email my address so you can have a look round my back yard , but I am not opening the garage door it is a disgrace in there , it resembles a tip
