Nice to hear from you and glad to see you are keeping a hand in with the cub. Hope the bungalow has some place to store the Pan and tinker with the cub.

OK at this end, but been a bit of a slog. Both my and the wife's jobs are keeping us too busy, leaving less time for other stuff than I would like.

Been slowing teaching my wife to ride her new Grom. We were hoping to make it for Bike Week, but not sure she'll be comfortable enough to mingle with the the Harleys on Main street. No need to rush.

Work stuff might mean not much Bike Week anyhow. Planning on going over to the west coast of Florida to watch an Indy car race next week. So that's a little get away if not bike related.

Was planning on coming over for the NW200, but as the date draws closer, and me having done nothing in the way of planning, it seems less likely.

I will be keeping the Pan at a mates about a mile away , and hope to keep the cub in a shed in the back garden till it gets done , that work thing is over rated , dont know how I ever had time for it , we have never done the NW 200 , keep saying we should but it wont be this year , we because of the impending move are trying to save oyr money till we know we have all we need, to have the new place as we want it , would you be allowed to the Bike week on propper bikes ?? I thought you had to be tractor mounted ??

Of course you were always welcome at the track with anything (in the old days, it was a lot like the TT bike-wise in the infield of the track).  Out in the usual Harley hang-outs, less welcome was generally how it's been.  Now a-days it is a little more tolerant, but you still have mostly "cruisers" (not all Harleys these days) so it still is a tractor fest for the most part.

But fun to be had by anyone on any bike, and you'll see just about anything in the minority, which still numbers in the tens of thousands.  Still hard to find in the hundreds of thousands of Harleys (and Harley-a-likes).

Great minds think alike, Eddie... Retirement of some kind is still looming in my near future. There is no way we could sell the current house we built. Not if we wanted to replace it anyways. Things have gotten so expensive in the last decade and I don't think I could do it all myself anymore. So we're slowly looking at ways of cutting back.
Mind you, I still am looking at the new Versys X, but that is another story.
That does mean that overseas trips are on hold for me too. Work schedules are not worked out yet for time off, we have a wedding for one of the rotten little kids this fall, new grandchild last week, rental property to dispose of... life just keeps commin' at yah...

Interesting topic in the meantime on the only other Forum I have time to check with...

It's always changing times. People are already starting to tire of the original social media sites, so I'm sure eventually we'll be saying "I remember when Facebook was big".

I don't think it is a drop in motorcycle sales thing, I definitely think it is a social media thing.

If Facebook were less commercial and privacy killing, I'd be more interested. But even if that were the case I dislike the general way it operates. Maybe something else will come along...

Yup. Facebook has just about burned it's bridges with me... I've got more 'un-friended' contacts than 'friends' and it is STILL too much crap to follow. It is habit-forming though, and you can always create a private group and follow along a bit more in control. I think there is a Flying Sparks Facebook somewhere... And now I've spent the whole afternoon wasting time on various social media things that did not exist a decade ago... Times are a-changing! Time for supper... to Hell with this, eh?

Well the family put me on FB when I was in hospital for the bypass op just to keep in touch as it was a bit far for some of them to visit , and I have to admit to some times spendinv too much time on it , as for the old forums which I much prefered I am left with two this one and one that has a few more people on it Between-the-Hedges.com/forum I think we are down to about eight or 10 of us , we do a count down for the TT on there where we put a picture up of a bike with a race number corisponding with how many days to the start of the TT , I like that but then it can get a bit quiet after that , talking of which it is time to go and put my offering of todays number , be good or I might get gealouse

The hedges forum was started as a general TT biker site much like this one and then when the TTMA decided to do away with their site they offered to give the marshals a section on their site but like this site it all but died out , then when the official IOMTT.COM forum was folded by the manx government because they didnt like been told the truth a few drifted on and most went on to Malcolms IOMTT WEB site forum but he is such a contoll freek that many just stopped posting and another couple followed on to the Hedges , following some grumpy Old Yorkshire git cant remember his name but he seams to be the last to leave these forums , but as you say they are all falling by the wayside

Nice pics... Pretty, but makes me glad to be here where it is warm right now.

This week is "Bike Week" in Daytona, but won't have much time away from work to enjoy. Did manage to have a long weekend last weekend to attend an Indy Car race through the streets of St. Petersburg FL.

It was pretty fun, I'll try and post a few pictures. I know there isn't activity here, but still always nice to hear from folks every now and again. Suppose we could just send e-mails at this point, though!

Haven't followed Indy cars for a while, but I believe a French Canadian driver won this year in Florida... Might as well toot a horn when I can. I'm always amazed at the truckloads of money that are shipped around with those cars. Almost as bad as pro football (both kinds!).

Well, Sébastien Bourdais is French by birth (LeMans of all places). Not sure where he calls home now, but "French Canadian" might be a stretch. I definitely don't want to jump into that cultural situation as a total ignoramus on the subject (I did spend a few days in Montreal though!)

I'm not a big Indy car follower, that was only my second race (the other was the first race at a little bullring built at Walt Disney World). Just like racing, and St. Pete is a cool place to visit, and street circuits are pretty cool too.

That said, I could get more interested. If F1 continues to be a snooze fest (other than off-track politics) that might push me that way.

Actually, the Pirelli challenge stuff was intriguing, might follow that a bit more.

There is no doubt a fair amount of money at these, but nothing compared to a "world" series (F1, MotoGP, etc.). Indy does seem to make a real attempt to control costs compared to the lip service of other series. It does come at the loss of a lot of super cool engineering though (the cars are basically all the same).

Real approachable/friendly racing series though. Nice fan experience.

Wowsers! Am I ever out of it. I did not recognize any of that Indy car guts. Things are changing! I DO have a little drill like that though (nestled in the suspension bits). You're right in the 'friendlier access' though. You would not have got anywhere near that close in F1. I remember back in the 'old' CanAm days when you could walk right up to the mechanics and watch them pulling things apart standing right behind them (and in the way - no doubt). Good to see the Monster out being used. Hope it didn't get infected by HD disease being in that close a proximity to the things...

Looks pretty in spite of the cold I'll have to admit.  What is the little treehouse/turret?

Well, IndyCar is more or less a "spec" series now (one chassis, a choice of engines), but with the big teams, their "spec" car is a little better in 100 minor ways.  This street circuit isn't really a great passing track, but they do produce exciting racing on "real" tracks.

I tried to park close to a few Hondas to avoid Harley disease (in the dinner pic there is even one of Eddy's Pans next to me!).  Hopefully, whatever I catch from the Hondas will at least make the Ducati more dependable!

I follow another forum...

http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php/topic,73336.2580.html#.WNbQNKLauUk

Logged on pretty much same time as the old Flying Sparks...
It's amazing how small the world is really... One of the most popular post is the one I linked to. The Couple have been riding all round the world for three years now, and the journey is absolutely fascinating. They have a blog that is easier to follow if you're starting from the beginning, but you'll need HOURS to work your way through...

http://www.ridedot.com/rtw/

ANYWAYS.... They happen to be wandering England in the current posts, and they posted a shot of a random bunch of bikers they met near Tynemouth... I glanced at the picture and then did a double take!
