Scarborough Gold Cup
Scarborough's Gold Cup this weekend the best meeting of the year , but long rang forecast not looking good , so may be on my own , not the same with out my mate , when she comes with me we normally have the Friday over there to have a few hr's chill out to get ready for the excitement , then stay over for a couple of days to relax and wind down then come home Tuesday evening or Wednesday , but if she is not coming will end up coming home strait after the races , makes it a long day on track by 8 .30 am then by the time we get finished and you get home it is half eight to nine o clock , long day

Only eight? I wish!
We'd already dealt with four on the track and Guy Martin disapearing into the woods, when his brakes failed.
There were another two right at the top of Sheene's Rise, and a drunk got thrown over the fence and down a steep bank onto the track.
Then, on sunday, another six came off in the main race!

That track is like running on my private driveway! Well... a little longer and way better paved, but it is so damn narrow! I have trouble imagining the speed they get up to in those conditions! Another target on my 'bucket list' I guess...

It's used for car rallies, so plenty wide enough for bikes. It was purpose-built for motorcycle racing, as a thank-you to servicemen returning from WW2. The circuit is probably the best maintained road in the Scarborough area, to the disgust of all the rich businessmen on the hillside below it!

Re: Scarborough Gold Cup
'Between the hedges" stuff is REALLY foreign to us over here. We think the F1 GP track in Montreal is narrow, even with all the run-off areas and grass verges that must be easily 4 times wider than the Mount! I remember 'discovering' it way back at the beginning of my experience with the original Sparks web. S.O.F. had talked highly of it when he was visiting here in '05. I've been all the way round courtesy of Google Street View! It reminds me a lot of my favorite midnight ramblings over Mount Royal mountain in Montreal back in the 70's...

Nope! Don't own a copter! Courtesy of Google Earth! Must go look for pictures of that bike though. Down near the bottom left you can see a fairly sharp loop in the road where you can turn around and head back up the mountain. I've still car a funny scar on my hip from low-siding there at a good clip on a brand new Honda 400F... Memorable!
