Those look like slightly different pieces. Is it the old one cleaned up and braced a little more, or a new one with additional bracing (slightly different year)?

Then again, it is probably the "before" pic. It may be hiding the extra "square hole" that the new one has two of...

That's definitely a rusty bike part!

Yeah... Everything rots here way quicker than 'central Canada'. Gotta love that salt air.
The ninja is bathed in some kind of rust coating oil stuff that should make the first fire-up interesting. I wonder how much smoke it'll take to clear out the garage?

We're almost near to riding weather here again...
See? the snow piles are going down...

    Well... a bit...

It really was warmer this past weekend, so I decided to take the fat-tired bike out to do some work...

    Been busy P4120945_zpsbksuwfr1

I needed some stuff from up the road that has not been plowed this year.
"Hey!" I thought. "Snow looks pretty hard and not that deep. What could go wrong?"

    Been busy P4120947_zpsfcx8bcwk

Quite a bit can go wrong, as it turns out. Didn't think I'd need the snowblower out again this year. Rescue was successful, after 45 minutes or so...

    I'll wait another week...

I'm somewhat stunned.  I figured I wasn't hearing too much here because it was getting springtime and you were out doing great stuff in the wonderful weather.

It is practically summer down here by now.  Rain in the afternoons and air conditioner running.  Hot, but I only wish it only got this hot.  There will be more hot later.

Probably just in time for me to have to move back into the house.  That is very soon, but just a few niggling things that must be finished before move-in.  This coming Tuesday is supposed to be the start of the final finish-off.

But snow is definitely a "you must be on a different planet" thing for me right now.

You don't fool me Eddy! I've heard about British weather. I think it would be called 'consistent'... Consistently bleary!tongue
I must look around for some pictures of the ocean from this week... This is the most interesting time of year around here. The snow disappears in about a week, followed by local flooding, followed by the mud 'season', the finally some kind of spring.
The ocean changes colour hourly, and great chunks of ice float in and out on the tide and winds. I looked out this morning and the water was brilliant blue with a band of sea ice on the horizon that looked like a whipped cream topping.

This is a picture from a few years ago. Setting out on an early spring (right around now - April 20, 2008) ride back to Moncton (6 hours- 3/4 of it highway)

No sissy heated vest or gloves either! You can see the floating sea ice on the water. The wind off the ocean is just like sticking your head into a deep freeze. Feels incredible riding behind sheltered spots on the coast road. Warm(ish) - Cold - Medium - Freezing! - Warm(ish) ... etc...

Oh there is no fooling about it JP , the problem we have with the British weather is that it is so changeable these days we don't get proper winters temps very rarely drop much below 2 to 3c with over night drops to -1or2c , but then we don't get  proper summers  either with highs of around 22-24c right on the verge of we wilting , the problem is it can change from one to the other day by day almost , and there is no chance of them weather girls getting it right so if you go any where you need to take 3 outfits with you , traveling light is just not done any more , and that is why I tax my bikes for the full year un like many in the UK now who only tax them for 6 months , for in the winter I hate being sat there when a nice day pos up unexpected with nothing to do and CANT go out on the bike coss it's not taxed , then I am REALLY bad to live with till it starts to rain again , which it seams to do every other hr ,lol

but I do believe spring has arrived

Eddy! What are those pretty little delicate... Oh! Flowers! I remember those!

However, all is not lost here. Even though our weather goes up and down like a yo-yo (bit higher swings than your neck-of-the-woods), a great chunk of snow melted in the garden over the last few days and there are a whole row of daffodil shoots poking out!
    Yay!
Also a sign of spring, my brother-in-law visited last night with his Hyundai Genesis great monster of a car. I warned him that the driveway had turned soggy, but he drove too far to the left, or right, or middle... It's soggy EVERYwhere! Anyways, didn't he sink the thing into the muck? Right up to the bellypan. Couldn't even open the doors. Finally got a tow truck to yank it out at 1:30 AM this morning.
AND I had to get to work at 8AM.
Think I'll find a nice shot of rum and call it a night...

Oh Yeah, and Smilo! I want photographic evidence of the project! An old friend of mine just moved to Florida from Maine. I've been making jokes about alligators in the backyard and it appears as though there really ARE alligators in her back yard. I thought racoons were bad!

Yeah, I need to put together some "before fire/after fire/after repair" shots.

I find myself a little short on "before fire" shots, though. I may have to go back to the pics I took when I was planning on buying the house originally.

I generally had little need to take pictures of the spare bath, or laundry room under normal conditions...

Went to a Japanese spring festival this weekend. Hot in the sun, not too bad in the shade. Could have used a tiny bit of your "sea ice" though. Felt bad for some of the folks dressed up in costumes.

Yeah, we just had to have a gator removed from the lawn of our office building last week. It's mating season, and they start to wander a bit. Haven't had one at home yet, but lots of other wildlife.
