Place Your Bets!
Well, seein as I've shown my face again, thought I'd ask a question about something I find particularly interesting...............
How does everyone think Josh Brookes is gonna do at his first TT?
Obviously, the TT takes years to get good at, but I think he's gonna do just fine.

Re: Place Your Bets!
Am thinking he's going to be a serious contender in next few yrs-he's got the talent and the cahonies to ride hard and fast...just hope he doesn't push too hard this next fortnight and overstep the mark-we've seen it happen before-some have been lucky some have been damn lucky and some haven't!
Wonder if he's bringing his orange "bib" leathers over that had people upset at the NW!

J.P. you need to go on line, go to wiziwig, and watch all kinds of motorcycle racing live and free. Hes an Aussie who is a top B.S.B. rider. I watched W.S.B. on there this morning.
Cheers, Beesa.

Welcome back Norts!
I think he will do well. I predict just outside of the top 10.

Ay up, Smilo!!!!! I was at the World Museum in Liverpool yesterday with the kids. They had a skull of the sabre-tooth tiger on a stand, and when I read 'Smilodon' your good self popped into my head!!
As for Josh Brookes, I was stood at the urinal next to him at Oulton last month. We shared a very awkward 'hey'!!
Ha.

Howdy Norts!
Your story reminds me of one from a friend of mine. He was at Daytona back in the day, and he had a similar experience with Kenny Roberts being next to him.
He was quite quick witted, and knew what he was going to say, but genuinely held back for fear of getting his ass kicked (this is King Kenny we are talking about here).
His plan was:
"Hey, aren't you Kenny Roberts?"
"Yeah" we assume Kenny responds
"Do you think you can get me Freddie Spencer's autograph?"

Re: Place Your Bets!
Yep-hes aiming for a 125 apparently....now think back 10 yrs-that were the outright lap record set by DJ!now that's scary-10 yrs from outright to the aim of a newcomer-but one hell of a newcomer-hes absolutely flying round some corners and has got some really unique lines in and out of some-and is shaving seconds off everywhere!

One Man's Island (the movie) was all about trying to break 100! I remember thinking at the time you'd need rails to go faster...

Re: Place Your Bets!
Fook me-127.7mph!!!for a newcomer!wow-apparently plater got 125 in 2007 and he's beaten that hands down!that was some bloody racing there!retirements galore/penalties galore/fantastic tribute having john in Joey's colours to commemorate 30 yrs since 1st win!
And compare how john took it re his penalty for pit lane speeding to how Guy took it a few yrs ago...john called himself a dickhead and said he'd take it on the chin-he knew the rules and let go of the limiter-a schoolboy error he said!no hissy-fit or owt!and to come back from a 60 sec penalty and still get 3rd and a new outright lap record!phenomenal!
Well done to michael-he sounded so chuffed so emotional and so happy to have won!
And can saying that was the hardest race he'd ever had to get 2nd!
Yep some race-cant Waite for tomorrow!

That must have been a hell of a great last lap to watch! Freight train comes to mind! Ultimate compliment from McGuinness too... "never seen riding like... on the last lap"... (insert 'thumbs-up' smilie here)

Re: Place Your Bets!
Changing of the guard. Mikey Dunlop is now the man imho!!!! If he keeps on like this he will sweep this year, and maybe even catch up to Joey, seeing that he is so young.
Josh Brookes- fantasic effort for a first timer.

Re: Place Your Bets!
With john having 19 it was wondered if he could catch joeys-and john still has a few yrs yet till 48 ie when Joey last got a win-an he HD keen young riders snapping on his heels-look at 2000-only 2 men won anything that yr-joey got a treble and so did DJ!but then there was more of a range of classes-125 through to 1000 bikes now its all 600 or 1000 and all similar-as can be/seen by the narrow margin between the stock bike record and superibke records...
Will Michael reach 26_well he's at 5 and is young enough but with likes of josh brooks havingsuch a good run am sure he'll have good competition too

That restarted snir was a blistering race-initally had a good set up at bungalow but my lift ie the tram finished at 5 so had to get off the mountain with only seeingthe front runners escorted back after the red flag...watched the restart from bedstead and boy am glad I did-it were right to the wire...people had it pinned there who are usually rolling it off for entry into the nook
