2017 - Stayin' alive
Just knocking the rust off the old site! Are the Forums ever dying! I would not want to have invested in any sites for the last year or so. Facebook is still a pile of excrement most days, but it has impact on what goes on in all the web-forums.
Anyhoo... Here are some of the reasons I have NOT been riding lately.
This much rain in 24 hours! Repeat every two days!
New toy jumped on board...
A monster compared to the rest of the 'fleet', but now capable of more crew ( 1 dog!)
Sunrise in the early AM... May be a good sign this week. Finally! Lobsters coming too. Beer in the fridge. Parrrr-teeee!

Re: 2017 - Stayin' alive
Nice to see a few pics. Maybe I'll post a couple. I spent the weekend cleaning the old Suzuki up for a big bike show in St. Augustine FL (Show Website).
The show is next weekend, and also next weekend is the grand opening of the new *Ace Cafe* in Orlando. Yes, it isn't the real thing, but is one of the few "official" franchises. Certainly better than not having one.
Weather is starting to get into the miserably hot time of year, and we are having a drought to boot, so dealing with fires and the like.
Thanks for checking in!

Drought? No rain?! Florida?
What is the world coming to? Our weather patterns are certainly changing. The lake has been at an all time high this month, and now it dropped in the last few days and we had a reversing tide for the first time in months. Must be high tide to coincide with the opening of the lobster season. When the ocean gets higher than the lake, the salt water comes rushing in and makes pretty weird patterns and froth and stuff on the fresh water.
Our grass is just starting to take off this week, so the lawn mower will be out for the first time next week. That's a little late maybe, but not too bad. We'll see what the temperature will be like for our big 24th of May party this weekend. We have a small group of about 50 people over for 3 days of stupidity. Always a success if no fistfights or stabbings for the family gathering...
Did you see the rocket yesterday? They said Cape Canaveral in the news, That's still just across the way from you, no? Those guys get you any work?
Should be fun at the show. I missed all the 'new bike shows' around here this year. They are a bit of a let-down after getting used to the relatively big shows in Montreal and Toronto. I should not be surprised, there is more population within 50 miles of Montreal, than all the Maritime Provinces combined. We really ARE out in the sticks.
Eddie is out doing the grand tour of Northern Scotland, combining it with the NW200, etc... Having a grand old time in the camper van. I doubt we'll see him here 'til he gets within regular wi-fi again...

Re: 2017 - Stayin' alive
Not all that unusual. We are getting some rain, just the usual rainy season is a little late getting going. We require the rainy season to keep everything on an even keel.
Hope the family gathering is scuffle-free...
My office (remember I sent the location) is very close to the action, so it is pretty routine stuff for us. The most recent launch shook the house (per usual), but no sonic boom for the returning first stage.
This was a very heavy satellite, so they (SpaceX) had to use all the fuel in the booster and could not get that one back.
Our giant "powersports" show in Orlando has moved to Ohio, so not going to get to see the new stuff in October.
The "vintage concours" I'm attending has been going for a while, and is starting to attract some pretty nice stuff.
I watched Cookstown race, and have the NW saved, but haven't had a chance to see that yet. Envying Eddie his trip. I was planning on going over there this year myself, now I'm having to hunt for a job again (I'm in a tough business), so all holiday plans are off for the time being.
