Think as well that it'll take time to getting used to visiting regularly again-when it closed last time people moved on and their lives adopted new routines-its easier to take out of a routine than add into one so we'll all fall foul till we get used to being back on again!the email link to following threads is a big help!

Re: Hellow good by
Well then
Good morning everyone from beautiful downtown Maple Creek.
We have sunshine but its still cool.
I'm holding my breath until next Friday when I take the 4 hour drive to Calgary to collect my brand new 2013 Suzuki DR650. I have bought a 5.3 Acerbis fuel tank, Giant loop Coyote bag system, an marine style 12v adapter and a Garmin Oregon so I wont get lost.
I bought a new Voss helmet a new MEC hubba hubba 2 man tent and a bedroll for camping out.
My first test ride will be to Regina on May 25 for the blessing of the motorbikes conducted by the Christian Motorcycle assoc. June 15 I will be off to Saskatoon for the Ride for Dad prostate fund raising ride. This has grown to a Canada wide fund raiser. June 20 I ride to Naicam Saskatchewan and join up with other dual sport riders and we are riding 1200km of the Trans Canada Adventure trail.
In other news my Brother had his prostate removed last June and we have just been told that he has cancer in his Bowel and small intestine. not sure what the Doctors have planned for treatment yet. We also are waiting in the Queue as there are just so many cancer patients
And in August Steady Eddy and Anne and Dexter will be playing host and tour guide to me as I arrive to the U.K. to attend the Oulton park round of the BSB and then heading over to the Ulster GP then return to U.K. and attend Cadwell BSB. Then I'm headed to Laguna in California in Sept for the WSBK round at Mazda raceway Laguna Seca.
That will be my summer.
Who else has epic rides planned for this year??
Cheers
Timbits
P.S. I'm leaving in 4 hours to drive 4 hours to Regina to attend a Foodwise course. I get to learn about pathogens and nasty bugs and creatures in our food system.
I wont be back till late Thursday evening. I'll post up Friday.

Well Timbs we look forward to seeing you as ever , fingers crossed for your brother , I am afraid long rides are a thing of the past for us now that Anne cant get on the bike any more she had 2 new knee joints fitted and they have worked well and they were just giving her a rest before doing her hip joint that it was hoped would have her sorted out but before they could do it they found she had brittle bones so cant do it after all , not good but she struggles on and does what she can , as for me well I failed my HGV medical so they grounded me and decided to give me City status and gave me my very own By pass , that was just over 2 years ago now and am glad to say all went well and feel better than I had for some years but have to say when you are laid on that slab and they tell you that 4% of people dont survive this OP it don't half make you think and appreciate what you have , I could have got the license back but I was that close to retiring age I did not bother so it is full time grumpy old git , so we may not be doing any big adventures , but rest assured we will be wringing as much out of life as we can the pair of us , and boy are we enjoying our retirement TT and Manx =7 weeks in the IOM marshaling as often as I can playing silly old fool to the grand and great grand kids , what's that saying ( life is for the living !! live the life you want ) Oh I am I am believe me

Timmy! You won the 6-49 AGAIN?? Gotta buy me one of them lotto tickets!
What a busy summer!
Me? Unhhh... I'm thinking of riding to work several times...
No really... Trip to Montreal in mind to see the old friends since we moved here 10 years ago. Also a circumnavigation of the Province for a few days... just because...
Eddy! A guy at work passed out and collapsed on the floor a few days ago. Bad heart stuff, bad knees, bad just about everything. He looks at me today and says "Oh yeah" "You're young, wait 'til you get to my age!"
He just about shit when he found out I'm 6 years older than him!
You're only as old as you feel, eh?

Oh your right about the age thing JP , i know some lads that are old and only in their forties and when we are walking some where are saying to me slow down you old goat , and then there is another friend of mine is 76 and as fit as any thing , so to me age is just a number , how you feel and how mobile you are is the important things and how content you are with your lot , contentment is the most valuable asset you can have in life , and I am the most contented I have ever been in my life , in financial terms we get by just , but in the value of love and friendship of family and friends I feel a millionaire

I've been on my hols ... Supposed to be going away this week for a few days too, if I can drag the Lovely Man out and we can find somewhere to park Mega Bus. 'Tis all loaded up with life's essentials (i.e. wine & beer) and ready to go.

No lotto tickets here J.P. Just many years of sweat and toil in the Bakery.
None of this paid off until we sold off the Bakery on 07.
The building the Bakery was in is now a day care centre. LOL
Our fire brigade has been called out 3 times in the last 30 hours for grass fires. Its that time of season again.
Yesterday was vey very windy. 90-100 km/ blowing east. We needed helicopter help fighting a grass fire just east of the Alberta border yesterday.
Our slow pitch ball league starts on May 1 whoop whoop I broke down and bought myself a brand new Rawlings ball glove. I doubt very much it will help any but I'll look darned good out on the ball diamond. lol
Got a big ugly crack in my truck wind shield. and the passenger side wiper blade on the little car is torn and needs replacement.
Oil and filters are all good.
Cheers
Timmy

Update: not going to be around until next weekend, off to t'other side of the Pennines for a few days in Mega Bus. Staying at Sheffiff Hutton in the White Rose county, wonder if I'll need my passport? Just hope that the locals are friendly *goes off to research local pubs*

Well, to kind of be on topic here, I agree that it takes a while to get back in the groove of "talking" to people in this format again. My time on the work computer has been particularly busy and intense lately, so don't have as much break time there. Home computers have been down for replacement, so just getting back up from that as well. The new ones are nice and fast, though!
Yeah, getting old isn't for wimps. I've been pretty lucky so far regarding other health issues, knock on wood. Mom and Stepdad both had bionic joints "upgrades" while down here in Florida this year. They are already anxious to get back to bike riding in the summer as they head back into the Smoky mountains.

We can go anywhere the Lovely Man can squeeze through. Fortunately, he does all the driving (well, he's the one with the HGV licence). In return, I do the cooking & pour the beer. I know my place (or not, as the case may be) ...

Ha! We had a little old lady living across from us in Ontario. She had a 25' dual wheel truck-based thing that her and the old man would tool around in. The old guy kicked off and left her with some disposable cash so she went out and traded the thing. We thought maybe just for a new one of the same thing, but Noooo... She came home with a 40' MONSTER Winnebago AND towed the damn car behind it too!
Trouble is, she couldn't get the car in the driveway by itself! I stayed far away from the roads when she was out with the battleship!

Poo! Timmy lives where the roads are all straight! I'm only 3 time zones to the right... They don't know how to do straight here!
Two ways home to my place, from the west...

and from the east...

I'll go find a picture of my neighbour and her 'Bago. It's awe inspiring!

Yup.
I'm on the Prairie.
I can do 1000km without making a turn
But that's just hiway. I could take you 80km north or south and show you some totally Awesome scenery!! Hiway 4 south from Swift current to Billings Montana is great twisty ride. We just don't have the majestic mountains, but we have some huge lakes and great parks and the TransCanada adventure trail

And of course, I am in flat Florida, which is much the same way. That said, it is only a day away to the mountains with mucho twisty roads.
Doesn't help day to day, though, so I have gotten more into touring, track days (they have curves!) and such, and leave the "street sport" riding to my trips to better locales.
I might be moving closer (or amongst!) those roads when job, etc. permit though. I'm not a huge fan of my home state, even though I have been here since a babe in arms...

Not denying that the USA is a BIG place. My company would like me to relocate to Seattle. From here, that is two thirds of the distance from here to the IOM (going the opposite direction of course), with no ocean or national border in between!
We are always jealous of the availability of motorsports events a bike ride away on your side of the pond!
