We Got Nothing?
Ok, so summer here isn't exactly riding season. I have virtually nothing in terms of interesting biking stuff to report. I lost a few pounds in sweat doing some minor maintenance on the bikes this weekend. That's about it.
But hey, over there, it should be wonderful! Is everybody just too busy riding to post, or what?
No TT follow-ups? No fun ride-outs? No complaints about professional racers or amateur road users?
I'm getting tired of hearing myself complain about my job, I would surely hope somebody in cooler climes is having some fun with motorized cycling devices (and might even have digitalized photographic evidence of same).
I've been taking a few silly pictures around here to start a few "biking related" threads, but haven't sorted them out yet. But, that's pretty boring stuff anyway.
What y'all got?

Re: We Got Nothing?
Sorry for not been on much yet after TT but have been full of busy catching up with the jobs that just have to be done cut the Grass (crop of Hay ) cut the Hedges once I cut my way through to them , then the weeding ?? now there s a job pulling up plants and knowing witch is witch and WO BETIDE me if I get it wrong , then I have to get the Bugilow ready to take the Boss for a week's Hol to North Wales , and then next week back over to the IOM to bring the Big Bike home , the poor old feet have hardly touched tera firma for the last 5 weeks , but things are getting done and we are looking nearly there I hope ( please oh please ) so with a bit of luck I should gradually get round to reading the back log of missed posts , I do know how you feel though posting to your self , I had that at one stage when the forum first came back , it is disheartening

Re: We Got Nothing?
Here you go! This is sorta bike related! I have a customer that is building a new house that he wants to use as a base for motorcycle touring guide business. He's located right in the center of Cape Breton, so ideal for a week's worth of day trips, and then the tourers can retire every evening to the built-in BBQ patio and lie about the day's events over a nice single malt...
This is a preliminary sketch-up...
Anyhoo... I'm doing a site visit on Saturday (with the bike, natch!). About a 100 mile round trip because I'm taking the scenic route (Two islands, one ferry, one long bridge, one small mountain) pictures to follow. The plans are progressing well, so I wanted to show him a model view so he can judge sizes of things, particularly the garage.
Neat what you can do with computers these days... He said it was OK that I popped a Z1000 and a SV650 in the garage, although he'll probably get more BMW's and (shudder) Harleys as customers... Told him it was a 'sport touring couple'...

Re: We Got Nothing?
Ok, so now I've been gone a few days...
Anyhow... Glad to see some of us are still kicking out there. I like the house. A friend used to put on a big rider based around his house.
A couple of things I can recommend from that is a place to dry out wet riding gear and a large concrete outdoor area (in addition to the garage).
I'll just stay with JP if I'm up in that area... He probably knows the area better than this guy!

Re: We Got Nothing?
First meeting with customers since the original presentation on Saturday (see ride report elsewhere...). Lots of change requests as is usual, and much to my liking the garage is going to get much bigger, better inside finish, a hoist, and a VIEWING PLATFORM... Wow... How cool is that? Also full screen doors for the summer hot spells.
Good idea for the outdoor parking slab. There is a separate 'utility shed' going in adjacent, so that will make a good spot for a parking area in between.
Buddy knows very little about riding roads though... so my place would be a much better base for exploring the island with guided tours.
Plus I offer a 100% rebate for Sparkies!! Can't beat that deal!
Buddy DOES have some neat toys though (hence the need for bigger garage)...

Re: We Got Nothing?
Well, what has seemed to happen in a large bike get-together is that the garage is where 100 shade-tree mechanics help the one or two guys that have some sort of problem "fix" their bikes (or spectate and heckle). And over-night secure storage.
In this case, the garage also held all the homeowner's regular "garage" stuff. In the case of this specialist place, I'm sure there will be other bikes that aren't being ridden, etc.
The slab ends up being where most of the "visitors" and "we're going to ride to dinner" folks park. Also good for the occasional need to load and unload a bike from a truck/trailer. Not to mention the occasional neat freak who wants to wash their bike...
And when it rains and all those folks come back from the ride with soggy raingear (or just soggy rider), a LOT of stuff needs hanging up and drying out.
