Updated update
Greetings all.
Where did I leave off I don't remember.
Had the ultra sound done on my shoulder July 11
Was told by radiologist "its a mess"
Saw Dr. Martin July 15. He told me he saw the ultra sound results.
He told me what he was going to do. How he was going to do it.
Answered my questions.
And then promptly told me it would be 8-9 months before I would get the surgery.
I am on the cancelation list but who knows.
On the evening of the 15th July I got a phone call asking if I could be dispatched out to a place called High River in the province of Alberta. For disaster services with Salvation Army.
So I was picked up 0600hrs July 16th and driven off to High River Alberta.
High River was victim of flooding. I went and did my bit for 2 1/2 weeks.
I'm home now. Thus my silence on here.
Things are fine other wise. I've been putting km on my DR650 and walking the dog each day.
I'm going to Crowsnest Pass Alberta next week for a 4 day dualsport ride with 23 other guys and looking forward to it.
That's my updated update.
Cheers
Timmy

Glad to hear you are still among the riding... In spite of your injuries.
Doc Martin? Isn't he the boot guy? Hope he's a little more delicate with surgery!
Cheers on your charitable relief efforts!

Re: Updated update
Cheers everybody.
While in the exam room with Dr. Martin I never once uttered the word motorbike
I did simply ask him if any more damage could be done to the shoulder and he answered no.
So I figured well then I'm going to continue riding. It hurts like H*ll but what the heck!!
I did tell my family Dr. I was riding my motorbike and I told him if I crash just make sure the shoulder gets done while I'm in the Theatre.
My Dr. just laughed.
Doc Martin somehow finds time to stitch up some fine examples of footwear styles during his off times of performing duties as a orthopedic surgeon.

Way to go for volunteering in High River. We have relatives there that are looking at their house stripped to the studs! What a mess. Hope the mechanical work on the shoulder works out soon for you. My neighbour has suffered for years after falling off a ladder. Tricky things, those ligaments...

Good luck Tim... You could use some! I was hoping you were one of the big powerball winners, but I suppose the money would only ruin you...

Re: Updated update
Er... So is this just a ploy to get the shoulder fixed early or what?
Sorry dude... I have had the "ride injured and then injure yourself again" thing, and it ain't fun.
Maybe you should just rest up a little bit after this one!

The little black cloud has been following you pretty close! Still, it could ALWAYS be worse, eh?

Re: Updated update
I honestly never gave any thought to getting more injured. I mean really! ! Who are they kidding. But it happened. Im still in hospital here in calgary. I hope to be released tomorrow. I will go to friends house and rest 3/4 days then drive home.
I was lucky as with fractured ribs there were no other internal injuries at all!! Indeed the black cloud could have been a lot worse.
Will keep ya'll posted.
Cheers

On the bike? Any damage to the DR? Do you have a trailer for the bike?timbits wrote: I will go to friends house and rest 3/4 days then drive home.

After I sold my last pick-up, I've been watching for a trailer. Handy to have for a 'trail' bike. Never got a thrill riding home a couple of hundred miles on knobbies from a weekend destination...

Hi J.P.
No. I trailered my bike out to B.C. from Maple Creek. My friends in Airdrie Alberta got my truck from Peter Lougheed Hospital and took it back to their house and I'm now at their house from South Health Campus Hospital in Calgary.
I think I'll be here till Friday then attempt to get in my truck and drive home.
Fingers and good ribs crossed.
Cheers
